Food Spotlight: Long Doggers

Long Doggers Cocoa Beach exterior

Long Doggers is a local restaurant chain with six locations throughout Brevard County. Over the past sixteen years that I've lived in Florida, I've been a regular at the Viera, Post, and now the Cocoa Beach locations. Long Doggers is a staple on the Space Coast for good food, beachy vibes, and great deals. The owners of Long Doggers also own Meg O'Malley's and Hemingway's Tavern.

Back in the day, my family would go to Long Doggers on their wing nights for their garlic teriyaki wings. To this day, that is my favorite wing sauce. On non-wing nights, I would swap between a Dewey Burger (sliced hot dog on top of a cheeseburger), one of their signature "long" dogs, and the ahi tuna poke bowl. Sadly, in the past few years the wing nights ended due to the constraints of the pandemic and the wing shortage, but they now have a happy hour special on Mondays where you get seven wings for $6. The Dewey burger is another casualty of menu changes, but if you ask nicely they can still whip it together for you.

Lately, my family has been loving the happy hour special on Thursday where you get a half pound of peel and eat shrimp for $6 ($6 happy hour deals is their theme Monday through Friday). Happy hour is from 2pm to 6pm, so we usually head there around 4pm and put in a few orders of shrimp. We'll pair the shrimp with some of their appetizers and have plenty to eat for a great price. Our favorite appetizer is the sea salt pretzel bites with beer cheese, which are on sale during happy hour for $5, followed by the onion rings. We used to love the loaded potato barrels, but they were another item cut from the menu. However, they were replaced with loaded boardwalk fries. We haven't tried them yet, but it looks like they have all of the good stuff from the loaded tots. Check out the menu here.

As far as happy hour drink specials, they have $2.50 Hatteras Red and Bud Light, half off all local craft beers, and Chardonnay, White Zin, and Merlot for $4 a glass. The Cocoa Beach location also has a special happy hour liquor menu and a slew of specialty drinks.

Outside of happy hour, Long Doggers also has daily specials including $9.99 lunch combos, tee-shirt Tuesdays, and wine Wednesdays. Long Doggers also hosts events with their next one being a Beach Bash at the Cocoa Riverfront Park on September 14, 2024. From 5-10pm they will have live music, food trucks, vendors, and inflatables. Tickets are $25 for general admission and $45 for VIP. Kids twelve and under get in for free. Check out the event page for more information.

Long Doggers has indoor and outdoor seating surrounded by tikis, surf boards, and sun. At least some of the locations also have outdoor areas with a few games like cornhole. Long Doggers is a great place to go for fun, beachy vibes without crazy high tourist prices.
