Food Spotlight: Teak Neighborhood Grill

Teak Neighborhood Grill, with two locations in Orlando and Maitland, is a great place if you want classic sports bar food with a twist. Their menu is full of interesting and unique flavor combinations that kick every burger, sandwich, and appetizer up a notch. With a great atmosphere, quick service, and according to Orlando Weekly the best burger in Orlando, this is a great place for a casual dining experience with a high quality meal.

I have been to the location in MetroWest a few times now, and the food is always phenomenal. They have a wide variety of burgers, sandwiches, and flatbreads along with some interesting appetizers, tacos and quesadillas, pastas, bowls, and salads. One thing you wouldn't expect to see at a sports bar are pierogies! They offer four kinds of pierogies tossed in different sauces and toppings.

Teak's menu has a whopping 23 different burgers ranging from Australian wagyu beef with bacon jam to a glazed donut bacon burger. They also have the Teak Challenge where you can attempt to devour 2 pounds of beef, 27 slices of cheese, 24 pieces of bacon, 2 mozzarella rounds, 4 onion rings, and a slew of other toppings. I've had the Drunken Monk which comes with onion jam, bacon, roasted cherry tomatoes, provolone cheese, melted white cheddar cheese, Teak chips, and herb mayo on a pretzel bun. My party also tried the Jack Knife, which they had to eat with a fork, and the Balboa.

There's no shortage of sandwiches with eleven options to choose from. There are more classic sandwiches like the Brisket Melt and the French Onion Dip, then there are sandwiches like the Smoking Gun with buffalo chicken, ranch, gouda, ham, bacon, and potato strings. There are also a few super spicy options. The Killer Bee chicken sandwich comes with hot honey garlic sauce, chipotle aioli, and ghost pepper cheese, and the Ghostface Wrapper chicken wrap is tossed in Teak's secret spicy sauce and also features ghost pepper cheese, sriracha aioli, and jalapeños. I got Grandma's Chicken, which is fried chicken, cheddar, hot honey, bacon, and spicy apple chutney on Texas toast. I love the flavor combinations, and it wasn't too spicy. However, I would have loved some extra honey on there.

Another great option is the Steak Frites Bowl. This bowl includes strips of steak topped with blue cheese, bacon bits, chimichurri sauce, and "onion frizzles" over seasoned fries. We were warned by our server that it was huge, and he wasn't kidding. The full-sized steak over a pile of fries is easily enough for two meals (but then again so are the burgers).

There are so many incredible items on the menu I would love to try, like the Pan Roasted Mussels appetizer and the Scottish Flat flatbread pizza. Not to mention the various specials, like Teakuila Tuesday and Wingin' It Wednesday, and the full bar with signature drinks and craft beers. There's something for everyone at Teak Neighborhood Grill.
