Food Spotlight: Yamasan Sushi & Grill

8 pieces of sushi, 12 pieces of sashimi, and an 8 piece spicy tuna roll

Yamasan Sushi & Grill in Orlando, Florida has some truly beautiful sushi and other Japanese dishes. This restaurant is located in Mills Park in Downtown Orlando right off of Mills Avenue. The menu features sushi, hibachi, bento boxes, and poke bowls with a great variety of options. The restaurant itself is not huge, but the interior looks high end with excellent service and beautifully crafted meals to match.

Our waiter was incredibly helpful with deciding what to order. We chose two appetizers, two rolls, the sushi/sashimi combo, and the bento box special for the four of us, which was more than enough food. For appetizers we chose the tuna kobachi, which was like a tower of tuna and avocado, and the rock shrimp tempura. The shrimp was addicting and had a little kick but wasn't overpoweringly spicy.

The two rolls we ordered were the Nella Fantasia roll and the Harmony roll. The Nella Fantasia roll has BBQ eel, shrimp tempura, scallops, krab meat, caviar, and a slice of fig that added a nice sweet touch. The Harmony roll has shrimp tempura, krab meat, avocado, baked salmon, and spicy mayo and was served with a flame in the center. The cooked rolls paired well with our sushi/sashimi combo, which came with the best spicy tuna roll I have ever had. The bento box special came with sashimi, shrimp, fried rice, a four piece roll, ribs, and a yogurt. All of the fish was beautifully prepared and tasted incredible.
