The Orlando International Fringe Theater Festival 2024

Orlando Fringe guide cover with text "City Beverages Presents The Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival May 14 - 27. 2024. Your guide to all things fringe.

Are a fan of theater and the arts? Do you want to support up-and-coming artists? Check out the Orlando International Fringe Theater Festival May 14 - 27, 2024. The festival features multiple theater productions, art displays, food trucks, and free outdoor concerts! They also have shows and activities specifically for kids. Orlando Fringe prides itself on being 100% inclusive, accessible, and uncensored. They use a lottery system to pick which shows will perform, allowing anyone new or old to have an equal chance at getting their production seen. Local, national, and international artists and their productions can be found throughout the event.

To take part in the festival, first you buy a button for $10 that supports Orlando Fringe. This button is a one time purchase that is good for the whole event. Then you can purchase tickets for any individual performances that you want to see. Tickets are usually $15 each and shows last up to 70 minutes. Kids shows range from free to $5 with the purchase of a $3 button. 100% of ticket sales go to the artists, which means you directly support the creators and performers of every show you see.

Some of the shows this year include Cocaine Bear: The Opera, The Mando-Larody, Barbenheimer: The Musical, and so many more! You can also find magicians, comedians, conversations, classes, and after-parties! View the full schedule here.

The event takes place in Downtown Orlando between multiple theaters. The majority of the event takes place in Loch Haven Park. There you will find the lawn filled with food trucks, vendors, and outdoor performances surrounded by the Lowndes Shakespeare Center, Orlando Family Stage, Orlando Museum of Art, and the Orlando Garden Club. Parking spaces here are usually hard to find, but there is a free parking garage right down the street behind another venue for Fringe, the Renaissance Theatre. The last spot for shows in this area, a little farther down the street, is Savoy Orlando. Farther downtown there are three more locations that are part of the event: Fringe Artspace, CityArts, and Stardust Lounge. There is a shuttle that connects them, but it doesn't run very often. You may have to find different arrangements.

This year I was excited to see the return of Dungeons and Drag Queens, a musical production that premiered last year by Wayward Queer Productions. The original score is by Cameron Jordan and Mikayla Thompson. Dungeons and Drag Queens was the top selling show in 2023 and the patron's pick for their venue. This year's version is amplified with new songs, new stage decor, and some new performers! This comedy musical adventure follows a fierce adventuring party as they try to save the fantasy world of Slaerûn. Fans of drag, Dungeons and Dragons, and musicals can all come together for this outstanding production. Tickets are almost sold out, so get them ASAP! Click here for more information.
